1993 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup Run

The most recent Stanley cup that the Montreal Canadiens won was in the NHL season of 1992-1993. The Canadiens were led to the Stanley Cup by Patrick Roy and Guy Carbonneau in the 1993 season. After falling behind to the now defunct Quebec Nordiques in the 1st series the Habs went on to win an unprecedented 11 games in a row. The Canadiens eventually found themselves victorious against the L.A. Kings, led by Wayne Gretzky, in 5 games in the Stanley cup finals. Patrick Roy was the ticket to the Montreal Canadiens playoof success and received the Conn Smyth Trophy after being named the most valuable player in the playoffs that season. This, the 24th Stanley Cup, won by the Montreal Canadiens, marks the last time that a Canadiens team has won the trophy. 2011 Montreal Canadiens Playoff Run

The 2010-2011 NHL season marked a very successful regluar season with the team comfortably making the NHL playoffs and finishing in 6th place in the Eastern Conference. The underdog Montreal Canadiens battled the 3rd place, eventual Stanley Cup Champions, in the 1st round. The Canadiens were able to take the Bruins the full seven games only to lose a heartbreaker in overtime of game 7. After the disappointing loss the Canadians will surely be hungry to get back into the playoffs in the 2011-2012 season. Newcomer Eric Cole and the returns of Josh Georges, Andrei Markov and Max Pacioretty will surely help their cause. A healthy Canadiens team this season has the makings to become one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference.
